The So Let's Key
Our
minds have a tendency to keep on looking for what it expects to discover and what
it expects to discover is pre-determined by our beliefs and the things we focus
on. We keep on looking for that ONE piece of evidence to support our beliefs until
we find it - or something else that can be easily turned into the ‘proof’. Once
we have found that one thing, however tenuous the connection may be, it overrides
everything. We take it, label it as a fact and use it to reinforce our belief system.
The So Let's Key is a life changing strategy that will enable you to unlock your
true potential and enable you to regain control of your life.
The steps are:
Stop
the reactive response
One way we can effectively change how we experience situations is to realise when
we are in the “reactive response”. When feeling fearful, afraid, despondent or any
other of the negative emotions that accompany dental phobia make it a habit to ask
this one question “What frame of mind am I basing my feelings?” That is are
you in a positive or negative frame of mind. If the answer is anything other than
a positive frame of mind then you are probably in the “reactive response” and not
thinking as rationally as you could be about the situation.
Open
yourself up to new possibilities
Benjamin Franklin one said “The definition
of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
A gentler interpretation is: If you
always do what you have always done you will always the same result.
Look
at all the options open to you
It is all too easy to focus on one
thing and exclude all other options but it is the other options that may well hold
the solution to your fears. Look at it another way, if you only know one way to
get from A to B and that route is blocked what could you do? However, if you had
a map of the area then you may be able to find a multitude of different routes from
A to B giving you many more options. Some of the routes may be more scenic, some
quicker, some shorter or some longer and you would be able to choose which route
you preferred.
Examine
any obstacles
Just as there will always be options
you can bet there will always be obstacles. Some of these obstacles will be easy
to overcome and others not so easy. An obstacle is something that opposes, stands
in the way of, or holds up progress but they don’t stop progress unless you allow
them to.
Take
action
No doubt you have already heard about
the power of positive thoughts and you will find a lot of that ethos within these
pages. However, no amount of positive thought will help unless you are prepared
to take action.
At this point in the process you know
what you want and what obstacles lay in your way. Now you need to formulate you
plan of action.
Stay
focused
What we focus on becomes our reality. As an example if you are a parent and only
focus on what your children do wrong that is all you will see. Conversely there
are also parents who only focus on what there children do right, they can see no
wrong.
You are always focusing on something, whether you are aware of it or not. It happens
automatically and unconsciously, which could be a problem if you focus is on the
wrong thing.
Stay focused on your goal and you will .... Make it happen
Proactive
1: Descriptive of any event or stimulus
or process that has an effect on events or stimuli or processes that occur subsequently.
2: Controlling a situation by causing
something to happen rather than waiting to respond to it after it happens
Do you have control of your life or are you led (controlled)?
Are you controlled by anxieties, fears, doubts or outdated beliefs? (either yours
or other people's).
Often the decisions we make are fear based. Fear of failure, fear of what "they"
might think or even, in some cases, fear of success.
Take conrtol of you life NOW, live proactively and live life.
